SMS in unreadable font

Hi everyone! Something very strange started happening from one moment to the next yesterday. I receive chat messages from a friend in Australia that are impossible to read. The font is all garbled, like this: شقث غخع فاثقث . She says she writes them in English. There was no issue before that. Would this be a problem with the language or font settings at her end,or my end?

hi , i am in australia and i just set up skype on a second computer and it is garbling the messages i am trying to write so similar issue to you (you are receiving/ i am sending) but it isnt in english on my end - strange font - almost greek like but not quite like you have below which looks like arabic.

You may have messed up the language settings during the install (this would cause this issue, uninstall and reinstall being careful)

Otherwise the font options are in tools>options>sms and IM there is a thing

Under IM apearance is a thing that says change font, chang it there.

there is no "tools" anywhere.  Not sure what you're suggesting.  I've looked everywhere for how to fix this problem

I'm having the same problem.  I'm sending messages to Israel and they were able to read it fine...then it changed...only random characters show up.  They can type to me in English and I can read it fine.  But on their end, it looks garbled and when I send it's garbled on their end too.

Does anyone know how to contact someone at "skype"?

I am getting the same since about a few weeks ago, I send from skype to Austria and it is turned into complete garbage. I've wasted a lot of money trying to see if its been resolved and nothing so far.

Highly frustrating since I can't send messages any other way to a non-smartphone.

EDIT: Solved, I changed the font to something common, I had it set to calibre, and then changed it to verdana.
