anyways as usuall samsung nor skype have addressed this issue.... what a waste of time having this forumn especially if skype or samsung staff don't monitor or respond to any of the concerns!.....waste of time and space!

I have been, several times, in contact with Samsung and Skype via Twitter. At first Samsung claimed, they can not adress the no rintone issue. Samsung said: It's a thirdparty software .... you must contact Skype. Then Skype responded several times. Even YESTERDAY they explained: We delever networkpossibilities to Samsung, Samsung the app software on their hardware. 

I still keep asking Skype, during and even after 4 months: Tell Samsung to upgrade their software. If you don't ..... I will not use Skype. I can understand Samsung when they don't upgrade. The make a sale and thats It. I can not understand Skype because they have to make money of people using Skype. But they only can earn money when customers are happy to use Skype. And I am NOT ..... happy.

So, don't YOU tell me what is a waste of time if you don't know what I am doing in the background, trying to get a ringtone.

I've noticed this issue lately when I am missing calls from friends and family.

I bought the Samsung C7700 TV last year, and was happy when I finally got Skype working with the STC1100 webcam a few months later (I had to manually updated the firmware for this to happen...) EDIT: After reading the OP, I didn't know I was missing features compared to a D-model, that just sucks.

Everything worked fine and out of the box, the feature of hearing incoming calls was there. But somewhere down the line I suddenly noticed that was missing. Didn't know if it was a program update or a firmware one that destroid that.

So why isn't this working? Is it a bug or a feature from the Samsung developing team? How hard is it to add a incoming/outgoing sound call option in settings?

Who are you contacting Gerard? I'd like to make a formal request too. Maybe if more people did, they would notice it is a true problem they should fix.

Boo-keun Yoon (President of Samsung) said the most obvious thing this CES, no consumer is going to upgrade it's TV each year. I should not need to buy a completely new 55" TV just to get incoming sound calls... it's not problem a problem of hardware but software.

PS: I was going to start a new thread for a background startup option. But since the sound issue is impossible to solve, this feature would just be an unobtainable dream...

oi gerard i wasn't saying YOU were wasting time you fool!.... i meant WE as a whole are just wasting OUR time!.... neither samsung nor skype are even attempting to respond to this thread. skype are saying go ahead and use the programming options to samsung and samsung are just throwing it back in our face by saying its a skype issue!... no way out!...dead end!...end of story!

The 2010 Samsung TV does not have a ringtone for incoming calls. Due to user feedback, this was addressed, and 2011 and later TV's do now have a ringtone. Unfortunately, the feature was not backported to the 2010 models.

The problem JKTol is that 2010 Samsung TVs did have a ringtone before. I have heard it, and was very happy with how it was. But due the that feedback, someone has updated the application and it is gone.

FYI just now I missed another call. The telephone company gained another phone call.

I have been in contact with Samsung (the Dutch support internetsite), and via Twitter with @SkypeSupport. Today, I received a twitter message from Skype after I made it clear that i will no use Skype because of the missing ringtone. Do you understand that Skype?

jktol... i think u r wrong as my tv was purchased last year (2011) and i can confirm that it does "NOT" have the ring tone!... thats why were having this debate!

I too have the same problem no incoming ring or outgoing dial tone. I have a 55" 3D model C7000 (pre-smart hub) and have found that getting Skype to work at all was a real headache. When first connected the Samsung camera it locked up the TV completely and continued to do so at regular intervals and the only way to get the TV working again was to unplug it from the mains completely and wait for 30 seconds (why do Samsung not put a hardware power switch on devices any more?). I ugraded the firmware and re-installed skype and this reduced the lockup problem but then i got the problem of not being able to log in to skype it just sat there with the circular timer going round and round. I fixed that by spending hours searching for info and eventually found on this forum a work around by entering my date of birth and sex in my skype account using a PC. God know why Samsung / Skype make this so bl--dy difficult. I been using PC's for many years and have become all too familiar with applying patches and fixes to apps however niether Skype nor Samsung publish a list of known issues or recomended fixes or which firmware to use to over come problems. This is basic customer management stuff how difficult can it be to inform your customers. I love the picture quality on my Samsung TV but Samsungs early foray into app development / internet / network integration stinks and really needs sorting or I for one will not be buying a new DUMB (sorry SMART) TV. - Sorry for the rant but something a silly as this "little" problem has really got me frustrated and angry.
