Firefox Process hangs with skype extension enabled

Had this problem with FF11, just updated to 12 and the Beta skype extension.

when closing firefox it leaves the process runing, so it will not re-start until process is closed using task manager (Windows 7 Pro 32-bit all updates applied).

I have re-activated all other FF extensions and plug-ins - it is only this one that causes the issue!

Re: Firefox Process hangs with skype extension enabled

Hey!  I have this problem too!  I was really enjoying the Skype Click-toCall add on for Firefox, but on the last Firefox upgrade the Skype feature wasn't supported.  I insalled the add on anyway, and have suffered the same Firefox hangups and excessive cpu usage.  Please upgrade Skype click-to-call!

Re: Firefox Process hangs with skype extension enabled

I had Skype Click2Call as an extension to Firefox 11, but the latest version of Firefox 12.0 says specifically in the Add-on manager that "Skype Click to Call is incompatible with Firefox12.0.". Firefox disables the extension but does NOT provide a means to delete it.. Come on Skype, get your act together!

Re: Firefox Process hangs with skype extension enabled

This seems to happen on every new version of Firefox. Then the Skype people drag their feet getting their extension fixed. Microsoft is gonna kill Skype...

Re: Firefox Process hangs with skype extension enabled

1st off Skype is relentless in attempting you to force and update.  But didn't Google buy Skype or take it over.  Google although good has to be controlled, its pure unadulterated spyware.

When I downloaded Google Earth yesterday, it ran in the background for each of my browsers the installation for Skype Click to Call as an extension.   It added it to Chrome, Comodo Dragon, and Firefox.

So when you wonder about things, think Google, not just skype, they want to invade every inch of your privacy they can get their hands on.

The fact that you cannot click a setting to tell Skype to quit hounding me to update when I chose not to is a sign of blantant disregard.  You can go to your control panel under Admin Services and disable the automatic logins and updates when you start up your computer from occuring in the future.  This in no way inteferes with your computers performance, if anything it once again gets rid of the little spider spies that google tries to imbed on your computer.

I'm researching how to stop google, just like I did with Macromedia when the government gave them permission to attempt to track and report back your web surfing.

Re: Firefox Process hangs with skype extension enabled

Thats not the point, it was an unauthorized download by Skype, performed by google without my knowledge prior to its being installed.  To me that is a total violation of my privacy, something Google could care less about.  They are the No. 1 spyware on the planet, and people better wake up to the fact.

As for changing it from enabled thats easy, but finding the extension and removing it is a bit more difficult, but I will find it, typicaly extensions are .js files.
