Skype has "taken-over" my Windows 7 computer. It has converted every number on a website to a Skype click-to-call number, even if they are not telephone numbers. For example, Skype has erroneously converted a real estate tax parcel number to a click-to-call number, so it's now impossible to click on the tax parcel number without Skype trying to make a phone call from my Skype account. This is not acceptable.
How can I disconnect/disable the Skype click-to-call feature? Please help. Thank you. Joe.
I do not usually frequent this message board; thank you for your patience in awaiting a reply.
How to turn off "Click to Call" - I am a Win7 PC on Skype version 184.108.40.206 - starting at your Contacts list, click Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> un-check Use Skype to call to: links on the web -> Save. That should do it!
Has anyone any update on this issue ? I have just experienced a similar problem where Click-to-call infected an website I run and converted every phone number to this format (which is exceptionally irritating and reputationally damaging). I have followed the advice outlined by the moderator but it seems to have no effect on the website data/numbers. How do I 'disinfect' the website ?
Have Skype done anything to help users tackle this issue ?
Uninstall Click to Call Plugin from the Control Panel.
Trying to uninstall from Control Panel (add/remove programs) does not work. My computer keeps giving me an error message while uninstalling for Skype Click to Call "Please close all open Chrom windows before continuing". I have NO OPEN CHROME PROGRAMS active. Have closed ALL other programs except for the Control Panel. I've tried repairing and that has worked but still won't uninstall. I DON'T WANT SKYPE AT ALL NOW. I had purchased new 2 days ago a Logitech Vid cam w/built in microphone that wouldn't let the microphone work on my system even though when I tested the mic on control panel, that worked. The error message I was getting was needed a "dedicated" USB port. I'm not buying a new PCI card to do that so Skype is not longer wanted or needed. I just want to delete the programs associated. HOW?
Right click on Google Chrome and select End task.
You can kill this "GoogleCrashHandler.exe" process. Then try uninstalling Chrome.
