Why you are bothering so much to download Skype to your system and consuming the space.. rather than that go to https://imo.im/> select skype from right hand side options>and login with your existing skype user id and passowrd and you are all set. You could make calls and chat similar to what we use to do in our pc's.

I've connected to Skype via IMO and cannot use video.  Audio works ok.  It would still be great if Skype would create an app for the Playbook.  My family have iPads, and like Apples video chat better than Skype, but there is a Skype app for iPad.  Go figure...

Download IMO it's the only reliable one that you can use Skype 4 urban PlayBook or BB phones I've been using it and it's good good luck
