Why Skype is not available for Blackberry curve 9300?

Hi,

I was trying to download skype for my blackberry curve 9300 when I found out that my version of phone is not supported by Skype even though it supports following blackberry phones

BlackBerry® 8830 World Ed BlackBerry® Bold™ 9650 BlackBerry® Curve™ 8330 BlackBerry® Curve™ 8530 BlackBerry® Curve™ 9330 BlackBerry® Storm™ 9530 BlackBerry® Storm2™ 9550 BlackBerry® Tour™ 9630 

I would like to know is there any particular reason why 9300 is not supported and do skype have any plan to support it in near future?

from the other thread, Skype do support Skype call for BB 9300 only for Verizon customers.

Only Verizon and Skype know the reason why the rest of us are not being served

as you have probably read in the other threads of this forum, BB is only supported for BB users that have a subscription with Verizon (US only).

We, the other BB users (non-Verizon and/or non-US), have been asking for Skype since 2008-2009 when Skype released the news they "were working on it" and it would be "soon available". Since then... nothing whatsoever. So, in short: your guess is as good as mine when or even if Skype will be available for BB one day. My guess: forget it!

Many questions have been adressed as to the why via different channels, but no honest, direct response from Skype till now....

It's september 2011 and I'm still waiting for Skype to be available to my BB 9300!  Surely there is enough of a demand for this, they are losing out customers, so many people using blackberry

I am verizon blackberry curve 9330 user.  My issue was that when I went to m.skype.com or links in my text messages from verizon and skype I was told skype is not available for my phone.

I spoke to technical guy at verizon who pointed me to here.

which I went to from my blackberry.  I hope this helps somebody.

Hi all,

The magic words in the post of dknt are:

"I am a VERIZON ... BB user"!!

So all of you reading this post, remember that, if you are NOT a Verizon customer in US or a 3 customer in UK, you can NOT have Skype on Blackberry: it doesn't exist and chances are it never will!!! (we are waiting since 2008-2009 with complete silence from Skype!).

Same with in Indonesia, I use 9670 and install the skype but can not connect via wifi, since it's been blocked for telkomsel user...
