Re: Video Calling on Symbian^3?

I now have video calling with Skype on my Android Tablet (Motorola Xoom), on my PC and my wife has it on her iPhone 4... But still "Audio-Only" through Skype on my Nokia ExpressMusic 5800 (Sybian S60 type phone.) If only Skype would do the same as they did for Android... Allow "unsupported" models of the OS to turn on Video Calling and try it. We use Fring and it works good, but I believe Skype's video compression is a little better and certainly Skype is more popular world-wide.

Re: Video Calling on Symbian^3?

I really hope the Skype team at least considers working on this cause we're the only ones with out video calling on our mobile phones, even though all of the original symbian^3 phones (N8, C7, C6-01, E7) have a secondary camara for video calling

Re: Video Calling on Symbian^3?

Seriously guys... Its Hell waiting for a video call on C7 / N8 from skype for Sooooooooooooooooo Longg... Come On Skype Guys... what the hell r u all doing.. just busy buttering Microsoft that u wont release anything now that works on any other platform other than windows 7.x !!

Dont think it should be such a big problem for skype developers to give such a known and small feature.... even after such a big outcry from public !!

Re: Video Calling on Symbian^3?

OK, here is the story.

There was SKYPE on my N95, couple years ago with VIDEO supported. Since google bought SKYPE, they stop supporting a video for all symbian devices.

Now, SKYPE is owned by microsoft since may 2011 but looks like same policy for banning SKYPE for Symbian devices.  It's shame but ...

I'm using Fring on my N8, also on my PC. My brother live 8000 miles away and we can make great video calls over HSPA (3.5G) network. He has Iphone 4.

I'm just hoping, that Skype team will release a version for symbian in near feature.

Re: Video Calling on Symbian^3?

I understand that Skype regards iPhone and Android as priority over Symbian. It's business, the reality of the moment. I just want to know one simple thing: will Symbian be next in the line or not? Are they completely ditching video call support on Symbian, or we can still hope?

Re: Video Calling on Symbian^3?

so far none of the representatives of Skype, did not answer the question: "Is expected in the near future, the video version for Symbian?».
Symbian ignored by Skype? (35-40% of users in the world)

Re: Video Calling on Symbian^3?

Not holding my breath here, both Nokia and Skype are Microsoft batty boys now and have no interest in the success or failure in Symbian, infact, Nokia would like us all to ditch what we have an opt for one of their new Windows phones.

Its all politics as we know its possible, my old Nokia n900 (great phone until my son dropped it) had Skype inbtegrated into the kernal and fron facing camera worked great, the whole Skype experience on that one was amazing.

So when the replacement for my dropped n900 arrived .. a Symbian E7 ... I sighed, shrugged my shoulders and embraced what I had, downloaded Skype and was bemused to find no camera? Comon ... this is retrograde progress!

I used to be one of Skypes & Nokia's biggest fans but to me they are now part of the Evil Empire and I am actively looking at the best Android replacement Sony Experia Pro? (need the keyboard man)

Shame on you Skype and shame on you Nokia.
