Re: Use Your Own Phone Device Router Based

I was not able to perform the setup on the Freetalk when it was connected to my router, but was able to perform setup when the freetalk was connected directly to the modem port.

I experienced the disconnection from the internet issue every time I connected the Freetalk to my d-link router (wbr-1310), so aftetrying a few things and updating the firmware, I contacted d-link tech support about this but they couldn't solve the problem after trying in many ways. They gave up and told me the Dlink wbr-1310 may not be compatible with Voip items so I should keep on connecting directly via the modem port, but that didn't make sense and wasn't acceptable to me because of the location limitation that would cause.

AvionNomad; Your comment about disabling the router upnp has solved the problem, I can now connect the freetalk to the router and maintain the internet connection to other items connected to the router.

Thank you very much avionnomad and all,:(y)::(y)::(y):

I have seen a few subscribers describe a scenario where the Connect Me adapter light goes to blinking green and then back to red.  When this happens all devices on the network start having intermittant disconnects.  I found that by disabling uPnP in my older D-Link router this problem was resolved.   As described by TUOL, configuring the Connect Me must be done through a web browser when uPnP is disabled.

You need to purchase a Skype Online Number. While this device has 3 different bundles of Skype credit or call plans, none of them include a Skype Online Number:

I stated that disabling UPnP in the router was recommended for security reasons that are completely unrelated to the ATA

It should NOT be necessary to do this for the ATA to work. or to avoid interference with other network activities

this particular aspect is an unresolved issue which should be reported and investigated, since Freetalk (or Skype for that matter) DOES NOT require or recommend that UPnP be disabled in the router

Neil

Re: Use Your Own Phone Device Router Based

Hello TheUberOverLord,

Can you help me, please?

I just received my connect me.  I was working for awhile.  Now is not working anymore.

When I check my router similar in your picture.  It's assign IP address.  However, I cannot go to the ip address of connect me from my computer to do setup anymore.

The LED also steady RED for about 30sec-1 minutes... then it changes to GREEN flashing for about 5-10sec and then steady RED again.. and it's like in cycle.

Where's the problem?

You need to contact customer support at Freetalk.

Most likely you reversed the phone jacks, which can cause this symptom in some cases, with the orginal hardware version of the device. Newer versions have resolved this.

Ask for a replacement in your customer support request, include your order number as well ("You should have email(s) you received when you purchased the device, that contain that order numer") as well as all the details you provided here is the link: http://www.freetalkconnect.com/contact/

It should be noted as well that some router/AP's do not deal well with UPnP enabled and can cause internet connection issues, if this is the case, then it becomes important to be able to get to the device using other methods. Which is why this subject belongs here as well.
