Skype for Wondermedia Wm8650

I am trying to find a version of Skype that will run on my Wondermedia WM8650, Andriod Tablet. I have Android 2.2.  Found a version of skype 2.0.0.47 which installs and runs, but which states that Skype has "stopped working" when i enter my login and password. Any assistance greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Skype for Wondermedia Wm8650

I've heard the Skype programmers have disabled support for all wm8650 devices over concerns that the user experience might reflect badly onto Skype.

Maybe, if enough of us report that we think their actions on this are what reflects badly on Skype, they will reconsider and support the wm8650. I believe they should let users decide whether the performance is adequate, instead of just blocking us out with no recourse!

Re: Skype for Wondermedia Wm8650

Well said.

Such things are not going to be forgiven!

When a company prevents its clients to use their product and pay money for it for ANY NON-ECONOMICAL REASONS it is going to go bankrupt once.  I think that's exactly what Nokia did. You remember guys they introduced that stupid certification system for software being installed, that certificate expiration, non compatible api's throughout the versions. And now what? They are firing their staff. Wow! Who could predict?

So, you skype IT guys, hopefully you are qualified enough to start looking for a new job one day?  Good luck.

I too have a wm 8650 android tablet and have been trying for a few months to find a version of skype that will download. And finally a version was released on the android market a few days ago so i downloaded with expectations of skype giving the same service as my pc but alas after filling in username and password it reports that it needs to close. i have a voipwise account that works fine on my tablet so why doesnt skype? Any advise or help from anyone would be most appreciated.

Re: Skype for Wondermedia Wm8650

I just got mine for christmas and was a little disappointed when skype didn't work.  Hopefully skype will take notice that the wm8650 is becoming quite popular and they start testing on it.

Re: Skype for Wondermedia Wm8650

I have the same problem with my WM8650. I can download the Skype app and set up an account, but when I try to log in and get skype to work,I get the message that Skype has to close down!!
Why haven't Skype replied to these queries regarding access problems for the WM8650??

There is a common problem with this chipset. The only version which works (chat only) with WM8650 is Skype 0.9.1.0 (beta). You can download it e.g. here: http://androidpolska.pl/view/lite_version_of_skype_beta_v0910_/332
