Hi TheUberOverLord, sadly the software you are suggesting is for PC's and not for standalone Skype phones that plug directly in to our routers.

It will not work on these below:

PhillipsVOIP 841

Netgear SPH200D

Linksys CIT400

I have and do understand that. My question is trying to see if any back-end changes have also been done.

So... can others try and sign in again on these phones ("I do not have these devices, so I cannot try").

Re: Skype certified devices no longer sign in

I understood you on my second response and in answer to your question, no it still doesnt work.

I've tried 3 times to log in and switched off my devices from the mains powered them back up and still getting the same response.

It would of been nice if it had.... but nope!

Ok, thanks for the heads-up, I wanted to make sure so that when others post here about this, I now know this is still broken.

Re: Skype certified devices no longer sign in

SPH 101 is not signing in from 08/20/2011. The same account is working on every Windows / Linux Skype client in the same network.

Also, the new account registrations is not working anymore on the device. It reports: the user name cannot contain " character (quotation mark).

It clearly seems Skype has changed the protocol on the server side and they are banning our high priced wifi / DECT phones!

Re: Skype certified devices no longer sign in

Strangely my netgear sph200d is currently connected to Skype network and I've been able to make a test call.

I didn't dare trying to logoff  and login again, I suppose that is only the authentication stuff that doesn't work anymore: right?

Re: Skype certified devices no longer sign in

[ Edited ]

I made a similar comment in the Phillips post, but as this post is for "all" Skype CERTIFIED devices, I thought I'd add it here too.

"I think we all need to contact BBC Watchdog via email, they will have a field day with this, they love negatively exposing companies such as SKYPE on national TV; which would further increase awareness to anyone that owns one of these phones and anyone else that's considering purchasing similar Skype products in the future.

Seriously, If this is what Skype Intend on doing now, whats stopping them doing the exact same thing on newer devices years down the road and with that in mind is it even worth while buying Skypes products anymore; its not like they're cheap or anything is it?

I wonder how many people think their phone is broken right about now because Skype haven't even had the decency to get off their backside and swiftly email their customers to let them know the situation. They haven't notified any of us as they feel that they aren't to blame even though its them that's made the changes to the back end of their network that's effected us all.

Also, lets not forget it was also Skype that sold their seal of approval to Netgear, Phillips, Linksys & Panasonic etc; allowing them to display a SKYPE's money making certified logo on their products and it was also SKYPE who knowingly also sold these products in their own shop to half of us, with no CLEAR indication that they would at any point remove support for any of these devices as and when they see fit.

Regardless of all of that if you check out some of the responses that have been uploaded on these forums, responses from Skype's customer services to users queries as to why their devices are no longer working, Skype seems to be trying to palm responsibility on to our device manufactures. What a load of ********!

"I do wonder if this a ploy to make thousands of us go out and again purchase more hardware, which would be rather profitable for SKYPE"

Skype have have intentionally done this and if Skype think we're buying in to the fact that they didn't account for disruption happening with all of these phones by them doing this huge update or change of protocol, it just shows what a bunch of morons their developers are.

The following SKYPE CERTIFIED phones listed below are all affected.

So far we've established the following devices have now stopped working thanks to the ignorant careless developers at Skype:

Community Confirmed No longer working (RJ45 Ethernet Type)

PhillipsVOIP 841

Netgear SPH200D

Linksys CIT400

Note: The above devices all have identical internal hardware, they just have different housings and subtly different firmware; have a Google for confirmation of that.

Community Confirmed No longer working (Wifi Type Phones)

Belkin Wi-Fi phone (F1PP0001GN-SK)

Panasonic KX-WP1050E

Netgear SPH 101

If we all report them to BBC Watchdog we can get to see the embarrassing face of Skypes CEO Tony Bates on national TV.

You could all start leaving comments on a video on Skypes Youtube channel (which is "SKYPE"). I guess we could all comment on the video called "Skype CEO Tony Bates - update on Skype downtime" its an old video but still. Unless someone wants to make one.

I'm sure they will appreciate your openness and views on there.

Personally I'm sick of big companies taking liberties with the little people and putting more effort in to getting away with things, which is usually more effort than it would of taken to just fix the problems in the first place.

Fun thing is that image of the "now unsupported" netgear sph200 model still appears on Skype site shopping page ("shop.skype.com/phones")

(sorry but I've been unable to post any screenshot in this forum

Got the following error:

"The message body contains community.skype.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/2694i6CBA21E6305164F0/image-size/original?v=mpbl-1&px=-1, which is not permitted in this community. Please remove this content before sending your post")

Try to copy/paste the url, prepended with http:// )

Report Skype To BBC Watchdog If they don't resolve this issue.

Its ridiculous isn't it...

I find it even more disgusting that they haven't even bothered to email everyone to let them know and its been down for ages.

If they don't resolve the issue, just email whats happened to watchdog and maybe trading standards or your equivalent where ever you are.

Also it may be worth contacting the company you purchased the product from to try and receive a full refund, as the phone no longer works due to Skype and its a Skype phone.
