Skype almost killed my Psvita?!?!

Well, as you all know, skype came out yesterday, and I went and got all happy when I started using felt a bit heavy but that's okay, it's initial release ... however, in the middle of a call with 2 more friends (and was using a wireless headset bluetooth stereo andpsvitawas carrying) and suddenly began to sizzle call (so far so good) but then I noticed that the unit was caught with more or least 30 minutes using skype, I tried to turn it off, butunsuccessfully, tried to do the hard reset, but without success too, was gettingdesperate, less than one month I bought the machine and there came the worst, "the lightblue flashof death "that everyone fears ... the device does not resetava not just shut downwascaught with the PS button flashing ... without having more to do, decided to call thepsvitapc (which has the content manager installed) when the PC has recognized the vitawas happy, and that there came the surprise: the **** blue light stopped flashing! after I tried to plug in and ... Success!
then there is the hint for those who go through something like that to try until sony or teamresponsible for skype correct the program.

hey bro,vjust wanted to let u know that isnt a skype issue. i bought the vita the day it came out and had it happen twice to me. all u need to do, if it does it again is press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. the internal menu will pop up. the first choice is to restart vita, i still have to do this if i leave it in standby for too long, but for ur issue you would click restore. itll delete most everything so back up files whil its working. but i suggest clicking the restart option before u click on restore. anyway, goodluck.

@imurpassenger well, i was using skype, and only skype, and after about 30 minutes of conversation the machine crashed, do not hang up, not reset ( or even hard reset ), just stayed with the screen open skype and PS button light flashing... but after connecting in my pc, my vita stopped with the flash lights and i tried to power on and.... success!!!

anyway, i will not use skype again until he gets updated....

Sorry, but it is NOT Skype that causes this. I had it happen to me before Skype even came out. Infact, google it..you will see others have had it happen too, and before Skype. Just do as the poster above said, hold down the power button for about 30 sec and hit the restart vita option and all will be well again. I had spoken to vita tech support when it happened to me and that is what they said to do.

Just like the others i have experienced this once or twice and i contacted sony and was told to hold down the power button for 30seconds and that did the trick. I can udnerstand the confusion but it not skype hell when it happened to me i didnt even have skype installed. It's simply the vita, I am sure at some point there will be an update for the vita which will stop this from occuring, but u never know. heres hoping.

This happened to me on my psvita before skype came out for the unit. It happened to me about a month ago without even using skype.

this has happened to me quite a few times and i just downloaded this app today and was thinking about getting an online phone number for my vita instead of getting a phone, but i doubt it would work when its in standby, let alone when i need it for work, so ill probably try it, but not buy it, i was wondering if anybody knows how getting calls works on the vita?

also i thought you had to let the battery die before i googled it, but then i was able to do the holding the ps button and the power button(ithought?) both for like 30 sec, but it doesnt usually work for me until after i let the battery die and then recharge it.  thanks a bunch for the suggestion of plugging upto a pc or my ps3, i hope it works as it seems like nothing else works most of the times that i go through this.
