Skype Lite for Blackberry !

I have used Skype for about a decade now and I never had problems installing it on computers and other platforms regardless of the device, platform or operating systems like Windows, Nokia telephones, Windows Mobile devices etc..

I don't use BlackBerry myself, but I was trying to install for a friend and when I ran into this problem/limitation.

I think BlackBerry has enforced this limitation themselves together with (or without) Telecom providers or Skype.

I would strongly advice everyone to use another device/platform or operating system that has no limitations whatsoever for using Skype.

By the way: In the past Skype worked ok with even the slowest GSM data connection available (GPRS) and now only Wifi calls work fine.

In my opinion this is also a policy enforced by Telephone companies.

Luckily there are still some other devices and/or other software applications that still work fine using a GSM dataconnection, so maybe it's time for people who never heard of anything else but Skype to try those other (Voip) solutions.

I can't believe that a company of this size has chosen to lock people to a provide on there blackberry's if they want to use skype. What a very stupid move on there part..

And because of this fact I'm taken my blackberry back and changing to HTC.

Blackberry have limited number of days in the market place in my opinion! (They only appealing to children over in England, and they soon see the limitation with the OP system)

I am from South Africa, phone costs are exorbetant here, Skype has been a blessing as we could communicate using Skype. Now that I have changed to BlackBerry I am unable to use Skype. Please give a solution. Many thanks

we are waiting since 2009 for skype for BB.

Has anyone tried the IM+ Talk App for Skype on Blackberry?

IM+ is the skype chat version only and then you get the IM+ Talk which enables skype voice calls over blackberry devices. This does have a trial period and then you have to pay a couple of bucks to get the full app subscription. It's on the Blackberry App World...

Maybe give it a download and see if the trial version works for you... I tried it on my Curve 8520 which only supports EDGE network, but I could hear the other person talking even though I was in the car... I'm sure 3G an faster will possibly work. Let me know...
