Skype Lite for Blackberry !

Hi,

So basically more than 2 years ago it was announced, that Skype Lite is being developed and ready for closed beta testing. It never came ...

Week ago I went to m.blackberry with my 9300 Curve and there was still nothing.

Today I went to that same site with my 9360 Curve and guess what - It started downloading. I was sooo happy to see that something getting to my phone. But after an install it just said, that I cant use this skype lite because Im not having Telkomsel SIM card.

So I found out that Yesterday (25th October) it was announced that Telkomsel made a deal with Skype about offering their clients on Blackberry phones Skype Lite client.

So my question is simple - Since when Skype is only available for people or companies who pays? I mean - Many Blackberry users dont stick with BBM just because not everyone in family do have Blackberry, but in the same time, if you cant get skype, you are looking for other free messengers (in this case Yahoo or MSN) , which gives you oportunity to chat and call your friends and family.

Blackberry phones every day is getting more and more popular and more and more people starts to recognize these phones as great investment for long term.

I just wanted to know - If there is any possibility that Skype Lite will be released for others , than just clients whos Mobile providers made partnership with Skype.

If no - then under what kind of conditions Skype would be released for some other providers?

How is it possible that a company like Skype can not give answer on such a simple question with probely a simple solution?

It is a great product, we only want to use it on another great product.

Not to leave all of you hanging ... I feel your pain ... however that said please do remember from the super-users all the way down to the lower-ranking forum contributors such as myself, we are all volunteers!  Please do be assured Skype staff and moderators do routinely monitor the forums.

Unfortunately, I do not believe my post will provide you the information you seek: the only mobile carrier in the United States who has Skype is Verizon, and an abridged or "lite" version of Skype works like a charm on my BlackBerry 9650 with the 6.0 operating system.  Therefore, I suggest checking which wireless carrier offers Skype.  You can also find more information here: http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/get-skype/on-your-mobile/skype-mobile/other-phones/ but alas this is in the United States.

Indeed, Verizon and Telkomsel are amongst the only 4 providers which support Skype - the rest of the world will have to wait

I am in Brazil, as far as I know, no option for any SIM that would support skype. They really are going against their "skype is free" policy. Everyone is loosing - next time my phone breaks I may just switch to another one - since it seems that they all have free skype option, while I have no skype option.
