Roaming charges in UK

I will be traveliing in the UK w/my US Verizon Blackberry Bold. I'm told in the U.S., Skype Mobile goes through the Verizon system, not through wifi, even where wifi's available. Will I be able to use Skype Mobile via wifi in the UK and not incur carrier charges or minutes?
