Do I have to have a working landline for my GE 31591? I was told I didn't, if I didn't care about having a line line. Boy, am I having problems setting this up. I bought this phone because advertised "It's already set up." anyone who is willing to help me until I finish getting this set please let me know. Thanks, I'm technically challenged. Sharon

The GE 31591 works just fine without a landline connection. There is not much that you need to set up aside from your Skype account name and password. The one configuration option that is probably not right for you is the default line selection for outgoing calls. If you navigate to the "Settings" menu (last dot on the right when you've pressed the "Menu" softkey) and select "Phone", then "Preferred line", you'll see that the options are "Regular call", "SkypeOut call", and "Always ask". Since you don't have a landline connected, you'll want to select "SkypeOut call".
It's been a while since I started using my 31591, but I don't recall anything else that wasn't pretty obvious after fooling around with the device for a bit.

Thanks for the help. I haven't had time to try setting it up again but I found out (after I lost internet connectin 2 days in a row) my wireless router I just purchased from ebuynow (came with the phone) is out of warranty and is 3 yrs. old and was purchased at walmart, not by me! Guess it must be reconditioned. What a rip off. Maybe now I will be able to set it up. I called Linksys and they fixed my router for me. I may be back in touch again? But thank you very much!
