This post is nearly a month old - which phones are now working? I just chatted with Skype - they were useless, a bunch of canned responses and then they told me to talk to Phillips.... 10 mins of my life I can't get back

Re: Connection problems with 1st generation Skype phones

I have a phillips voip841.  The phone does not go to voicemail.  It also will have a call coming in and doesn't ring.  If I notice an incoming call while it's not ringing and pick it up there is no one there.

Is your upgrade complete for this phone?  If not how will I know when the upgrade is done?  I have an old version and I can still log in and make outgoing calls.  I don't want to update until it's ready.

thanks

Re: Connection problems with 1st generation Skype phones

Hello Claudius

I was wondering how the fix was going that was started in April 15. I am still unable to connect using my 2 FreeTalk Talk3000 Office Phones (all details in my previous post below). Mt second phone was just purchased at the end of January 2012. I contacted tech support March 24th 2012 via chat and they said they were aware of the issue and working on it. I am still unable to use my two $85 phones purchased from the Skype website. If you need any addition info, please contact me. Do you know how long it will take before I can use my phones again?

Thank you

On the Heartbeat, you will see this: Skype certified hardware log-in problems
5:57:51 PM ----- says,
i can log one one account (my wife's) but not mine
5:59:15 PM Jayvee M. says,
Yes, I understand that. But since this is a known issue, we cannot guarantee the since you are able to one account, you will be able to sign in with the rest of your account. That is why we are still having this fixed, okay?
6:00:30 PM ----- says,
my phone is not listed as having the issue
6:01:00 PM Jayvee M. says,
This involves all Skype phone.
6:02:39 PM ----- says,
what are "1st generation Skype phones" as per ...
6:02:40 PM ----- says,
http://community.skype.com/t5/Other-devices/Connection-problems-with-1st-generation-Skype-phones/td-...
6:03:46 PM Jayvee M. says,
You mentioned that your phone is not in the list right?
6:03:54 PM ----- says,
that is correct
6:04:05 PM Jayvee M. says,
You will notice that under the list of affected phones, it says: Please report here if you have another Skype certified phone not able to log in any more
6:05:01 PM Jayvee M. says,
If your phone is not in the list, please feel free to report it there so that our developers can address this issue with your phone as well, okay?
6:06:04 PM ----- says,
ok - i will try this - this issue seems to be 2 weeks old and mine is 4 or more - maybe even 6 weeks ago when i noticed it
6:06:56 PM Jayvee M. says,
I know that this can be very frustrating. Rest assured that our developers are working hard to having this fixed, okay?
6:07:04 PM ----- says,
ok
6:07:16 PM Jayvee M. says,
Is there anything else I can help you with today?
6:07:50 PM ----- says,
it seems that i can not proceed any further
6:08:31 PM Jayvee M. says,
If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us again and I’ll be more than happy to assist you further.

Re: Connection problems with 1st generation Skype phones

Hello Claudius

I have 2 FreeTalk Talk3000 Office Phones purchased from the skype website.

I can't sign in using my skype ID on either phone.

I CAN sign on to my wife's skype ID without a problem on both phones.

It seems only when I try to sign on to my account that the sign in fails.

This has been going on for about 4-6 weeks.

I have a Linksys CIT200 phone that connects fine (the CIT400 is listed as affected) using my ID.

I have 2 android phones that connect fine using my ID.

I have 2 other usb phones that connect fine using my ID.

I can connect using 2 different versions of Skype on a PC using my ID.

When I sign in on the Talk3000 office phones using my skype ID, it seems to connect but then returns to the welcome screen and starts over. As I stated previously, I can sign on to other accounts using the same Talk3000 office phone, just not mine.

Both phones worked perfectly prior to this issue.

Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thank you very much.

Re: Connection problems with 1st generation Skype phones

My dualphone is still not working and I am getting very angry about this as it is affecting my business and of course Skype are losing revenue as I can't make any calls out either!  I have discovered that if I forward the phone to my mobile I can hear the person at the other end, but this is not particulary satisfactory and it costs me more money.

IT IS ABOUT TIME THAT SKYPE MADE A DEFINITIVE STATEMENT ABOUT EXACTL;Y WHAT THEY ARE DOING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, WHICH TYPES OF PHONES THEY ARE WORKING ON AND WHEN THEY EXPECT IT TO BE FIXED. IT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO JUST ISSUE A STATEMENT SAYING THEY ARE FIXING IT. WHEN I WORKED IN I.T IF I PERFORMED LIKE THIS I WOULD HAVE BEEN SACKED *********************

Re: Connection problems with 1st generation Skype phones -> Grandstream 3140

SKYPE:

I am still having issues with "random" dropped registration/connections... It will be working fine after I reboot for a while, but then suddenly randomly it seems to drop registration, and then no calls can come it.  So, after writing your technical staff I get this response:

  • "I have spoken to our developers. In the first instance, they have requested that you raise any issues with your phone- to Grandstream. I am sorry for the inconvenience this causes, however the problem seems to lie with the specific product, and so we cannot directly support this."

What is funny here is that SKYPE had just written to me a few days earlier with this note:

  • We have seen a number of recent issues with VoIP telephones, and we would like to investigate your issue in full. I have forwarded your case to our technical department for them to investigate and eliminate any possible flaws or bugs."

So which is it... will you'll take ownership of the problem, or not.  The phone folks (after lots of troubleshooting) say it is a unique issue to the SKYPE SoftWare that is causing it to "loose registration" but since the code is proprietary, they can't troubleshoot it.... then you'll write that there seem to be a BUNCH of issues that are similiar to mine (as evidenced here on this forum).

It seems to me that you'll have a greater issue here that you are trying not to pass the buck on all the phone makers....  what's up with that?

Chris

Re: Connection problems with 1st generation Skype phones -> Grandstream 3140

Another week goes by and my phone is still not working!  I am at the end of my patience, Skype seem to be incapable of fixing this problem and not particularly bothered about giving updates  - fabulous customer service!

I am now looking for an alternative supplier, can anyone recommend a company that will provide the same service?

Hello 'Weddinggirl' -

I too am starting to get tired of the lack of cusotmer service here!  at first they blame to the phone maker - then admit it might be thier software - then again back to blaming the phone....   It continues to loose 'registration' with the SKYPE servers, and won't route the incoming calls to my phone.... now it also keeps on 'droppin' the caller id, so when I do have a connection, it shows some random number in california when I call out.   NO RESPONSE from Skype again!

[Moderation: Removed advertising]

The thing I liked about SKYPE, was I can use it as app on my smart phone when I travel, so I want to see if I can find one that also has an app and also cusotmer service.  I used 8x8 in the past before SKYPE, and they were good.

Good luck, let me know which one you like too!
