No. Online Numbers are more like landlines then mobiles.

Yeah I am also inquiring about receiving sms messages. Since it is like a land line and I can receive sms messages to my land line, what is the difference here?

I just tried it and it worked - sort of.

I sent an SMS from a *different* skype account to my UK online number.  As I am in the states now, my Skype Online Number diverts to my US Google Voice number, than then rings my home and mobile phones whenever I get a call.

Well my SMS to my UK Skype Online Number came through to my US mobile phone as a voice message (one of those robot voices).

On my iPhone I happened to be logged in to the same Skype account as my Online Number, and it didn't ring or pop-up a message or anything during this test, so it looks like Skype decided to send the SMS to my designated auto-forward number by default.

A bit odd, but at least I got the message.
