I just wanted to add a comment here that Skype for Windows 8 / 8.1 is the most poorly designed software I have ever used, and I honestly hope that the people that colluded on the shoddy single sign on functionality with Windows LIVE ID, can rest happy knowing they have probably screwed more peoples personal accounts than anything Microsoft has been able to do on their own.
I have used computers for 26 years, and not once have I ever screwed myself as quickly and as easily just by being in a hurry and accepting whatever **bleep** Skype made me jump through to get on a call with my family.
Anyone who helped with this product should honestly be ashamed they work in computer software.
download skype for windows desktop, install it, then you can use it ass your normally did
to uninstall skype for windows 8, go to the metro interface on win 8, go to all apps, on win 8 is that right click, all apps, on win 8.1 is it the arrow below, right click on skype, and than choose in the bar below, uninstall
This is the first and most important thing anyone should do once they make the mistake of downloading skype for Windows 8 / 8.1 - every time I have used it the experience has been terrible, and has forced me to jump through hoops just to get online.
having issues with Win 8.1 and the new Skype.
I made an upgrade from 8 to 8.1 on my Windows PC and Skype stopped working afterwards. First, it was a pasword issue and then I just couldn't launch Skype. Each time I tried to launch it would take me back to the Start screen. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing, yet no change. Please, help.

I totally agree with you. Skype now belongs to Microsoft. What can we expect from now on, other than craps and heaps of craps. Disgusting!
I will stop using this useless Windows 8.1. That's it.
in Win 8.1, once we login using live uid/pwd, Skype pickup the same UID/PWD for live. After that I cannot log out.. to log back in with the Actual Skype's uid/pwd ..? Pl. see my other posting.. on this issue. It must be fixed immediately.
The new skype in Windows 8.1 is absolute crap. It kust be some person with no knowledge of what works and what does not work.
I have been using skype for over 5 years and now am greeted with this crap...
I was forced to delete the windows 8.1 skype in control panel, and have re-installed the latest of the original version.
The trouble now is that there is an issue where I can hear others but no one can hear me. There is so much help advice being posted online....
yet none of it seems to provide the correct answers
Skype chat support is no better because they do not have any answers and do not know how to correct this problem.
It seems that both MS and skype should start reading the amount of problems that people are really having by searching in google
for problems between Windows 8.1 and skype audio with microphone issues
It would be helpfull if MS would actually "fix" this problem with an update, instead of trying to tell us how good windows 8.1 is,
when in fact, it is worse that any other versions.
Windows 7 did not have these issues
I am running an ASUS VX 7 and regret having installed windows 8.1.
I need an update which will fix this problem
I am experiencing a great difficulty since using Skype for Windows 8.1
My wife and I broadcast a radio show via Skype in a 3-people-connection and in the last 4 weeks we get disconnected every 5-10 minutes making the show a really disturbing experience for listeners and for us. Any insight or similar experience out there?
