Webcam auto zoom on mac?

I've been having the same problems as well with my Macbook webcam and the new version of Skype for Mac. Ever since I upgraded to the new version of skype, my webcam has been constantly zooming in. It is NOT an apple issue because it doesn't happen with FaceTime. Skype needs to work out this annoying bug!

Same problem here.  The webcam zooms in and becomes unclear.

  This is a large thread without a single reply from Skype technical support...  That's dissapointing to not even get a "we're working on it".

Considering cancelling my Skype premium membership.  For work this issue is very annoying as I have to keep resetting my video.

Maybe I should be using gmail video chat or Facetime instead?

2007 15in. MacBook Pro.

Been having the same problems with the updated Skype. Has never happened with any other program.

1) Open /Users/Username/Library/Application\ Support/Skype/skypename/config.xml with TextEdit

2) Find 

<Video>
<Device>Built-in iSight</Device>
<DevicePath>0xfd40000005ac8501</DevicePath>
</Video>

3) Add  <AGC>0</AGC>

SO basically, you should change it to this:

<Video>

<AGC>0</AGC>
<Device>Built-in iSight</Device>
<DevicePath>0xfd40000005ac8501</DevicePath>
</Video>

4) Quit skype and save the file

5) Reopen skype and enjoy!

Isn't this setting ("Auto Gain Control") for auto-setting of the mic level, and not anything to do with the cam?

Here is the same... I use a MBP from 2006 with Lion. This is very annoying!

Exactly same problem. Downloaded new version of Skype and it worked perfectly for a couple of weeks. I now can see remote caller but my own video shows disconnected and am unable to turn it on. On other Mac I am still using the earlier version and there is absolutely no problem. Very frustrating.
