I'm right there with you! We're not asking for much, so why on earth aren't they listening?! I just can't figure out what to switch to... What options are you considering?

I've shared before that I am a freelance writer for a major tech news site.  I have submitted my article to my editor and he promised me that it will be published next week.  The article is on the Skype for Mac controversy -- that we are clammoring -- for an update to 2.8 that will be Mountain Lion 10.8 compatible and of course how much we dislike 5.8.x.

As soon as its posted I will share the link here.   Then you guys need to help get the word out.  Let's fight this battle together.

I would rather not say -- so that people don't try to go after them ahead of time, but they have been around since 1999 or 2000.   Hoping for a Monday morning release... however before than and after that point -- as many people on here as possible have to try to get the attention of Krishna Panicker.   He is the product manager of Skype / Mac.  Politely, but profoundly-- everyone needs to let him know what we think.

That's a good idea. I tried to contact via Linkedin, but rejected because I did not know his email address. Can you help?

I have a feeling he monitors the Skype-Mac twitter page.  I posted a few firm but polite messages there -- they haven't shown up yet.  You can try too.

Just did it. Wonder if any of this will penetrate their corporate shell?

I hope so.  We are not asking for the reinvention of the wheel here.  Don't know if you were a mac user 7 or 8 years ago, but Quicken version 2005 to 07 for mac was a very popular series of software.    Intuit never updated it beyond ver. 2007, it was always power pc software and could run on all OS up through 10.6, even on the Intel Macs.   10.7 no longer included Rosetta, it was time for PowerPC apps to die and rightfully so.

Mac users were not happy with Quicken Essentials 1.0 for Mac released in 2010.  By July 2011 they were desperate, upgrade their Mac OS and lose Quicken or hang on with 10.6.  Finally Intuit listened and Quicken 2007 (don't know why they kept the "2007") was released for Intel Macs and Lion in March.  It was $15 bucks.  I'm not even a series Quicken user but I bought it cuz I believed in the cause.

Skype could charge us a few bucks here (not more than $15) or make this a part of the Premium subscription or offer it both ways.  Fine by me -- i'm already Premium.

Re: The Obvious: Skype Interface on the Mac Sucks

Several times have I tried to use the newer versions of Skype. Only to go back to 2.8 after a month at most.

Many posts have discussed what's wrong with the newer versions. Obviously the people at Skype reponsible for the decisions disagree with many of the users, or they simply ignore them.

Re: The Obvious: Skype Interface on the Mac Sucks

I'm relieved that I found Skype Version 2.8 again on http://mac.oldapps.com/skype.php.

The latest UI made me not use skype anymore.
