I have skype 5.4 on my Mac - it opens and anytime I select a contact the application freezes - actually if I click anywhere on the skype window, the application freezes. The only solution I've found is downloading the first version of skype ( 2.8 ) - then I can actually use skype. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 5.4 plenty of times - still nothing. This has been an issue since Monday November 21st.

Hi there,
Looks like I'm experiencing similar with Skype version 5.3.59. But it doesn't even open, just crashes immediately. Is this purely a community discussion forum, or can we get Skype software tech or dev, to take a look at this ?

Now version 2.8 doesn't work - I can sign 'online' but I am not online to my contacts and they don't show up as online. Even though I know they are.

I have the same exact first problem occuring sometime in late October. I have tried everything. Skype gave me some data collection tasks to report back to them, but some of the files and directories they claim to be needed do not exist on my computer.
Any luck since?

I have skype for pc and I am having problems as well. Sometimes when I try and make a call on skype it just rings and rings and rings indefinitely, but is not actually making the call, its just frozen. I force quit skype, and the ringing continues. Only after I end the skype32.exe process does the ringing stop. If I try and run skype again after this, it continues to crash repeatedly, or cant log me in at all. Normally restarting my computer fixes this, but even that is not working anymore, so now my skype is unusable.

I am having the same issues and it completely blows!
Does anybody know how to contact skype to let them know there's a problem??
Is there an alternative to using this unreliable application??
