new Skype 5.7 problems with contact window on Mac

I just installed the new Skype 5.7 on my Mac and the contact window is a big problem, as if the window is reasonably sized, I can't read the names of my contacts nor their status. Is there a way to personalize this configuration?  I can't find anything on Skype help.  Also, I would like to eliminate the star and list columns, how can I do this?  And finally, why is the interface of each new version of Skype for Mac worse than the previous one?  Aren't they supposed to get better?

I am also having MAJOR problems with the new skype. It's pretty much useless for work and I've resorting to using gchat instead. I can see my contacts, but I cant message them. I can see in the dark grey pop up box when they are typing-but I still cannot respond back. My skype message boz seems frozen as the cursor won't move and I cant see what I'm typing. When I pull up my contact list I can't even click on them to message them. Its pretty annoying and has significantly slowed my work day.

Anyone else have this problem?? I work remotely and rely heavily on Skype and this is greatly impacting my communication.

Hey Msan

           Im facing the same problem with this on my mac with the new version !! When i do sign in the messengers opens and shows all windows...... but as soon as i click on any of the message windows of the contacts, it pop up an error and crashes ..... after which nothing else opens or the messenger shuts !!!

Would be great if anyone could help solve out this problem !!!

I have just upgraded to 5.7.1130 and its an utter disaster. How can I get the old style listing of contacts which is much easier to see all the skype addresses and their statuses.

I will now roll back to my original version.

I can only inconsistently get the chat box to even appear.  Half the time it wont even show up.

This is my first post but I've been a Skype user for several years now. All I wonder is how did the Skype management/user experience/development teams collectively fail in such a distasteful fashion?

What kind of person sits there and things 'I know I'll make the contact list a table, a really crappy one. Oh and I'll not even let people choose if they don't like it'.  I firmly believe someone should be fired over such antics.
