microphone does not work with skype on kubuntu 11.04

Hello,

I am using the microphone of my logitech webcam. I am using kubuntu 11.04 and skype 2.2.0.35. The video works but not the microphone. I have tried it with another program (Audacity) and it works.

When I go to the skype options, I just see PulseAudio server. I can click on the "Open PulseAudio Volume Control" but the microphone does not work with skype.

Did you ever get a resolution?  I have exactly the same problem using Ubuntu 10.10.

Hey, I did find that Google Talk which has a similar video/audio capability to Skype does recognize my video and audio from my USB camera.  If I cannot get Skype to work I may go to Google Talk for my Linux system.. Of course that means all my family that I usually Skype will now have to Google instead, so this isn't an ideal solution.

1) install and run pavucontrol sudo apt-get install pavucontrol

2) start test call in your skype (call to Echo/Sound Service)

3) in pavucontrol window choose tab "Recording" and for skype settings choose one of your device

try different devices

I had to install phonon vlc backend, select that as the backend in the Kmix setup, and then adjust the internal microphone setting in skype (options, sound devices, adjust pulseaudio, input, internal microphone) to 100% (it was at 0 ?!). Works like a charm now. Good luck !
