Why the hell do I have to 'warm up' skype to get clear call quality to my headset?

This issue has been here since forever and it is attrocious. I cannot make outgoing calls to normal phones or to other skype users when I have my non-usb headset plugged in on the first time.. I literally have to call 5-6 times, hanging up after 3 seconds before the call will become clear and then after that it stays clear from then on in, even if I hang up and call back.. It's like skype needs to get all warmed up for atask that it should be designed to do from the beginning.
this has happened in ubuntu and debian, across every computer I have ever owned and on wired or wireless connections alike. What gives?
Oh, problem doens't happen with a USB headset funny enough

this could be an issue with the way linux handles wifi connections.. I've recently cleared my /etc/network/interfaces files completely, as in it's totally blank, and this problem seems to have dissapeared.. I'll keep on testing and update again if the problem re-occurs
