I have a Philips SPC700NC web camera that does not work on Skype in Ubuntu 12,04. It worked on 10.04 but after the update it is not working. The camera is ok with Cheese as it was before the update, but not on Skype.
Any help to solve this problem is welcome.

I have solved my problem by creating a test file with Gedit in my desktop with exactly:
In file's properties tick "Allow to execute file as program".
Whenever I want to launch Skype I just double-click the file and I'm ready to go.
Hope this solves your problem.
Of course, I'm assuming you're with Linux.
Sorry im new to linux, How exactly do i do this. Do i create a folder on my nautilus desktop, copy file to folder. name folder ( what do i call it ) then in properties tick allow execute program. if im wrong please feel free to give me the idiots guide to linux jargon. regards mickmike.
It's very simple to do it
Just open Gedit that should be under acessories.
and the save it on desktop, for instance.
By right click on his icon edit the properties of the file and in the Permission tab tick the "Allow execute as program". That's it.
Whenever you want to run Skype, just double click the icon of this file and select run in the dialog box.
If you want you can use my file witch is here:
