Hye,
I'm having problem with the new Skype 5.2.0.1523 that i just downloaded. I have been using Skype for years already with my Macbook and it has been working perfectly fine until earlier this week.
I was using the previous version of Skype until earlier this week when i noticed that my video looked dark when i was having my video call.. My room was bright , enough lighting and all.. So i tried opening Photobooth to check if theres a problem with my iSight, and not Skype itself.. But no, my image when i open on Photobooth is fine, clear and not dark..
So i decided to upgrade to the skype above.. the problem with the dark image is already solved with the new skype.. But i notice other problems.. My video is automatically zoomed in, I HAVE NO IDEA WHY (never happened to me before, and ok i might sound a bit noob here, i dont even know that my iSight has this zoom in or zoom out function)... And then, when i tried to stop the webcam and to re-try clicking the webcam button again, it seems that skype wont let my video appear. Ive checked in the preferences, skype can detect my built in iSight.. So whats wrong here??
Help anyone?
Thanks Xx

I have the same problem - The built-in iSight cam on my MacBook (OS 10.6.
using Skype 5.2.0 keeps zooming in and I can't figure out how to zoom it out. I notice that as of a few weeks ago, there are a bunch of posts on this. How do we resolve?

Same problem here. 2006 Macbook running Snow Leopard exhibiting the same behavior. Not instantaneously, but after using the video for a while it automatically zooms in.

I have the same problem with my built in iSight camera on my MacBook. Today was the first time I had a video conference. I have Skype 5.2.0.1523 but I haven't made video calls with previous versions of Skype. I was sitting next to my wife and I could see that we were both in the frame, but after about a minute the camera was just zoomed in to her face and I couldn't figure out how to fix it. But later we decided to move back about 2 feet and to the side. Then the camera adjusted and we were both in the frame, we couldn't see ourselves anymore, but the other callers could see us both OK. Then later they told us that the camera appeared to zoom out and there was an empty space next to my elbow. Maybe the new version of Skype has some sort of newly added feature thatlooks for a face and zooms in on that face? If this is a new feature, too bad there isn't a setting to turn it on or off.

I think Google+ video will be my next port of call if Skype doesn't sort its act out.

My iSight will randomly go fuzzy and when I turn the video off then back on, the images is clear. After about 15 min, it will do it again. I upgraded to Lion, but the same thing still happens.

Same problem here: MacOSX 10.5 on a 2008 MacBook (white) and the latest version of Skype. What happens is a sudden zoom (and it seems no to be centered too) of video.

What is the point of having a forum if the tech guys don't answer? The first post is already 2 weeks old, there are others having the same issue, and no answer from Skype...

Add me to the list.
I've noticed this problem ever since the 5.2.0.1523 and it persists in 5.2.0.1572. Randomly, my Early 2008, 2.2GHz/2GB MacBook (black) runing 10.6.8 will zoom in whether I'm in the frame or not; turning video off/on resolves it for a mere minutes.
This does NOT happen on my Mid 2007 MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 (now upgraded to 10.7) only on my MacBook.
