Anyone know about plans to develop a Skype web app for the Google Chromebook?
I mean the web app would just be a shortcut to an 'online version' of Skype that anyone with a modern browser could use (Not just Chrome).
It's the only missing piece of my digital life on my Chromebook. If it goes on this way my Gtalk usage will start to overtake my Skype usage, yet I am very happy with the Skype service and regularly top up with credit and have an online number.
Are we talking huge development? Or is this political??

I found this today. I was waiting for a very long time. ![]()
If you can't wait, try to use IMO.im, it's not perfect, but it works with my chromebook.

Right now the only way to actually install skype for chrome os would require flipping the dev switch
I don't have a chromebook but I wonder about trying to install the linux version that way and then somehow calling it up through a webpage

I *think* it is going to play out this way. Get an Outlook.com account
From Microsoft today:
"Outlook.com is the first step in creating one complete experience for the next generation of communications. Email should be connected to your friends – whether they like to use Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google, or a combination. Email should let you get more done, faster – with immediate access to your inbox and tools that can automatically categorize, move, or delete messages you don't want. Email should be deeply integrated with other services – for Outlook.com, you'll find that Office Web Apps, SkyDrive, and, soon, Skype come built right in. And we hope you have already noticed our fast, beautiful user experience."

I just started using Skype. This year my uncle hooked me up with an Acer Chromebook. It has a webcam on it, so I'm wanting to Skype. I have been unable to find a Skype App. Does one exsist? If not is someone working on it?
I will most likely never visit "http://community.skype.com/t5/forums/replypage/boa
Thanks

rd-id/Linux/message-id/1284" again. So I'm going to ask that someone, ANYONE please E-mail the answers to my two questions. My E-mail address is tbiman@outlook.com.
Thanks
You're in luck. With an Outlook email address Skype will appear as a sidebar within your webmail soon. Microsoft will replace all their IM services with Skype (should be sometime this year)

Thank you soooo much. I just started to use Outlook's webmail. I'll be on the lookout for a Skype app!
