Video calling on Mac osx lion crashes Skype

i really need some help i have tried everything.

i tried restarting skype, re-instaling skype, deleting my skype and shutting down my computer and then restarting skype, ive even tried to run photo booth at the same time.

messaging people and voice calling works just fine and never crashes my skype.  but as soon as i try to video chat, any time after it starts up, until about 2 min it crashes the entire skype app and i have to restart it.

please help any advice will be appriciated

The same here. When in video calling, after some time, skype crashes all together. Don't know why. Please solve this.

Are you running the latest Skype for Mac 5.3.0.1074? We've added support for Lion there.

I have the same issue, about 2 mins after i start a video session Skype crashes.  It works fine for voice calls.  I am running Lion and the newest version of skype 5.3.0.1074.

Same here - just before 2 minutes skype crashes. The first couple of days after I installed Lion, it worked fine, this issue just started yesterday. I hope it gets fixed soon!

I've got a similar problem as you guys. In my case Skype doesn't crash after 2min, but I can't see myself or my partner. Only if Skype looses focus, I can see my partner in the little window. Very annoying. And then when hanging up, Skype crashs.

What can I do? I've got 5.3.0.1074 and even tried to reinstall it.

I got the same problems (skype hangs after making a call, video only visible when skype window is not in focus, and not able to see myself).

I have the same issue as well. I did a clean install of skype, and nothing. I rebooted, fixed permissions, and even tried things i've seen on other forums. Nothing works. Microsoft needs to get their stuff together. This is exactly why I bought a Mac, but I still cannot get away from Microsoft ruining things for me.

I had a similar problem on my macbook pro with Lion. It had been working fine for a while, then started crashing on start-up. It was still fine on my imac under Lion. I've managed to fix it as follows:

1) Ran Apple hardware Test and found one RAM module had an error, so I've swapped that with a different module. The Skype problem remained.

2) Booted in safe mode, erased/reformatted the hard-drive and restored to a version of Snow Leopard from a back-up. Applied all system updates and Skype worked fine.

3) Re-installed Lion, applied all system updates, downloaded the latest version of Skype and all is working fine.

I suspect things went wrong on one of the incremental system updates for Lion. Re-installing Lion from scratch and applying the latest combined updates seems to have solved things for me. I hope this helps anyone else having problems.
