UPGRADING

Have MacBook Pro OSX Lion 10.7.3, and have been trying to upgrade Skype to latest, but message "Skype already in use"  always comes up.  How can I find where it is in use and close it down ?  Also cannot remove Skype to reinstall, same message appears preventing deletion via Wastebasket.

Re: UPGRADING

Just a thought. Go to System Preferences\Users and Groups and then click on Login Items. That shows a list of what is automatically opened at Login. Maybe you selected it in Skype Preferences when you originally set it up. Select the Skype login (or delete it with the minus sign) and it won't be opened in future, you'll have to do it manually. You'll need to restart the Mac though for it to take effect. If it's not showing in System Preferences that'll be another problem

Re: UPGRADING

Thank you.  Unfortunately ... it's another problem.  And, having searched and binned all things Skype, I can't empty the bin because "Skype.app is in use".

Re: UPGRADING

Hi,

You might go to 'Utilities' folder >>> Activity Monitor.
From 'Processor' panel, search for Skype and then kill process.

Re: UPGRADING

Great thanks :bigsmile:was able to empty bin, and upgrade.  Finally.  So much of OSX Lion is a mystery for former MS users, and sadly Skype support a bit limp.  But we got there !
