Glad to see this thread is still running strong.
I am considering a retro reversal of version myself, but I have found that Skype does not make these easy to find.
If I find where and how, I will post it in this thread. If anyone else finds where and how, please post.
Thanks.

To download v2.8, click on Mac under Get Skype at the bottom of this forum page. Then scroll to the bottom of the resulting page and click the link to download v2.8. If you want an older version, try oldapps.com/Skype.php.

That stupid keypad, and why not just have a list of contacts like it used to?

Hello Skype developers,
Please give us the choice (or change) Skype to a better interface. We do not need the huge buttons. The 2.8 interface was great compared to the new one. I do not care about integrating FB to Skype, so please make it something optional. We do not care about the Skype homepage. We want a simple (small font) list with the contacts. We want something more minimalist, more like OS X.
Please think of us and start back from v2.8.
Cheers,
LEP

The interface pisses me off. But, I sometimes I smile when I think the meeting of User Experience "experts" that looked at the Mac version interface and said: Hmmm.. This interface needs to be improved.. You know.. In the Microsoft® way. If any of you are reading this post I have to say: You are not being professional. If something is working fine, you just leave it as it is.

I used to dislike the unified UI, until I used Skype for Windows. Those poor souls.

But I have to defend Microsoft here (never thought I would do so): The UI redesign was done _before_ Microsoft took over Skype - and I wish that by now they have already thrown out the responsible UI 'expert' for Skype 5.x!
My company urges me to use Lync for Mac - and I have to confess that they (Microsoft) did a lot of things the right way there (it's still not perfect but way better than Skype 5.x)
