Have been using Skype for a long time w/no problems. Recently had to replace HD on a 13" MBP, running OSX 10.6.8, and restored setting from Time Machine. Also updated to Skype 5.5.60.2340. Skype launches ok, and looks OK, but clicking around on the main window makes it unresponsive: can't click on any part of the window. Can't close window using mouse or Command-W. Sometimes window shows broken up images. Command-1, can close window, but won't open again. Need to constantly Quit and re-start.
Repaired permissions. No change.
Sometimes I can make a call, but can't hang-up or do anything except force quit.
Any way to re-install the previous version, which worked just fine?

After downloading and re-installing 5.5.60.2340 again, with the same problem, I decided to re-install Skype 5.3.0.1074 from my warehouse of .dmg files.
And now Skype works fine, just like it used to.
I suspect the problem is with the upgrade to 5.5.60.2340 for anyone using OSX 10.6.8.
Moral: Don't throw those dmg files in the trash when you upgrade an app.

Trash the app, go to User/Library/Application Support, trash the Skype folder, go to User/Library/Preferences, trash the com.skype.plist(s). Empty, download the new and re-install. Skype is now functional and responsive.
You will lose your history doing this.
