I can't seem to connect to the internet with my skype although im online, on a connection that i KNOW to support skype (i've used it already, and was using it when it crashed yesterday and now won't connect). i click on wifi connectivity under file, and it says that my wifi network does not support skype- i know that's not true. My internet connection is fine. I;ve tried reinstalling skype, turning my laptop off and on, ive tried using another wifi network- nothing. I don't know what to do. I'm using it on Mac OSX. If i can't talk to my boyfriend in Australia soonish, i'm going to go a bit mad. please help.

Hey I had the same problem.
You probably have fixed it but this is for everyone else.
I just had to change my status from offline to online.
Stupid Skype told me that my Wifi network was not supporting Skype.

I tried to change my status from offline to online, but to no avail. Skype is the primary way I keep in touch with my husband, so I need to fix this and fast. I received an error saying that my WiFi connection does not support Skype, even though I used it 5 hours ago and have been using it for three days before.
I would love to know how to fix this!

Also experiencing the same error. I am running Mac OS X on a MacBook. I was in the middle of a call and did not change a thing. I was booted to offline status and cannot go back online. I have the error message that "Skype access is not supported. Skype doesn't work with private or closed networks." The only suggestions I've found online are to make sure I have the current version of Skype: Skype --> Check For Updates assures me I am, and to uncheck "Use Skype Access to connect to WiFi hotspots" in Skype --> Preferences --> Advanced, which also did nothing. Help would be very much appreciated.

I'm having the same problem and my roommate tried hers and had the same thing come up. This is definitely an issue with Skype not our networks. I hope they get it figured out soon.

Hey everyone,
I've been having the same problems. I just went ahead and deleted then reinstalled Skype. It works now. Hope it works for you all! (:

just got the exact same problem, actually after i upgraded mac osx to Lion on my Laptop. I did the delete/reinstall thing and now it works fine. all contacts and stuff are saved, so i think it's the best option.
