Skype screws up iSight

Every time I enter a video call, the camera works fine for about 30 seconds. Then, my cam freezes. If I end the call, the green light will stay on until I close Skype, and it is recognized as in use by other apps (for instance, if I open PhotoBooth, I get the message "No Camera can be found"). If I check the A/V tab in preferences, I get a black screen for video feed. When I quit Skype, the application freezes and I have to force quit as well. Once skype is completely closed, the green light goes off and I can use the cam in other apps just fine. I used Skype last night with no problem last night and have only encountered the problem today. I've tried reinstalling Skype and restting the SMC. So at this point I'm at a loss.

I'm running a week old Macbook Pro Core i7 running 10.7.4 and using Skype version 5.8. I'm pretty sure that's all the info I need to give.

Re: Skype screws up iSight

Skype doesn't like PhotoBooth, FaceTime or iMessage. So you have to close those down, as well as Skype, and then reopen Skype for it to work - hopefully!

Re: Skype screws up iSight

I didn't have them open at the same time until after it froze, just did it to check and see if it would read in PhotoBooth.

Re: Skype screws up iSight

I've noticed that once I've used skype, and pause or quit it, my isight no longer works in any app. After the machine has been asleep for a while (no sure how long, at least 30 mins) the isight camera works again, until the next time...

I did try an SMC reset, and a pram reset, neither made any difference. Just the period of time asleep/shut down.
