Skype forces reboot on Ubuntu 11.10

Hi,

I have checked out some of the other messages about 11.10, but I believe this is a separate issue. Whenever I try to load Skype, whether from the prompt or from the applications menu, my entire session abruptly dies and reboots (logging me out only, not rebooting the entire computer).  There is an error message of some kind which I see briefly when I run it from the terminal, but I can't tell what it is because it reboots too quickly.   I did try to get a log of the error, but I don't know how to open the logs in Ubuntu due to the encryption Skype uses.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to do for further trouble shooting?  I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 with Gnome3, Kernel 3.0.0-17-generic-pae.  A zip of the two log files can be found here, in case anyone knows how to open them and use them:

Thanks for any suggestions!

Re: Skype forces reboot on Ubuntu 11.10

Aha, I found the error message.  It's

Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0.0".
skype: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0.

In case that can help someone.
