Skype all versions crashing on Lion

Hi,

Since I have upgraded to lion, the Skype has stopped working for me. Whenever I start the application, it crashes within a few seconds. Not sure what the problem is. I have checked that Lion is updated and am using skype 5.3 which is also the latest.

Please help.

Have you tried a 'clean' install? (i.e. clearing out previous versions first)

yes, i have tried a clean install. in fact i downloaded AppCleaner for the same, but the problem still persists. Skype crashed within a few seconds of starting.

nothing seems to fix it. I have downloaded v2.8 also but it is also having the same problem

Have you tried repairing permissions and hard disk in Disk Utility?

Tried both of them today, still the problem persists. Am I the only one experiencing this problem

I was facing many other small issues as well, like Google Voice and Video chat was also not working. S, did a clean install and everything works now

The "fix" on this page does not work.

I have done everything possible

THREE TIMES

and still skype crashes 

the moment I try and  make a call.

When I said clean install, I meant clean install of lion. I was facing several other issues and hence thought this would be the best.
