Skype interface is way too big. It takes a quarter of my screen, when I contact my client to talk about graphic design in inDesign or photoshop, the interface takes too much place. The previous version was already too big, I waited the new version for a smaller app and now it's bigger?! I really don't understand, Skype must be used in background, just a list of contact. The smallest, the best. Now Skype look like a big puffed marshmallow full of air.

And, moreover, there's no way to sort the contacts, so you're obliged to open it as much as possible. Disgusting! It's time to look for an alternative.
Yes - The display footprint is way too big. The appication not take more that 1/8 of the screen size - Please provide a way to make it more inline with what Skype 2.8. I just downgraded Skype to 2.8 and works fine. Small in the case is GOOD
I totally agree. The latest skype is massive. In my 13" mac book it does not allow many other apps to be displayed on my screen. Skype people should consider that a lot of their consumers are travelers with laptop-size screens, and that having a huge skype window does not help at all. What a terrible design. I also downgraded to 2.8 since it is so slick. I have also started trying other options like oovoo.
So agree with you. 5.8 has added this new version with the contacts monitor gimmicky thing, but when it automatically launch upon start of computer the (smaller but still too big) window still takes soooo much space. Have reverted back to 2.8 too.
