Problem in installing skype.

I also deleted an older version of Skype and now I get the message that Skype is not my cpu "does not support this architechture" with the latest version. I use a Power PC Mac OS X version 10.5.8 

Please advise.

The recent versions of Skype only support Intel CPU machines.   You'll have to install version 2.8 with your Power PC Mac.
