Can't See My Text

the same problem is happening to me on a Mac version of Skype. I've done a clean UNinstall of every file several times, I've sequentially rolled all the way back to 2.8, all to no avail. Mac OS doesn't have a registry, so I'm at a loss as to what other files or system info could be causing this. On a PC, I've read it's a corrupt chat history file. That has been deleted many times. Still no fix.

Anyone with any ideas on how to fix it on a Mac? (other than the suggestion to go back to a decent computer and get a PC again)

Try restarting your computer.

You can also do this:

1. Go to "Tools" on the top left.
2. Click on "Options".
3. In "Options", click on "IM & SMS".
4. Click on "IM Appearance".
5. Click to change the font.

I have not tested it, but it may work.

Thanks for the suggestions. Restarts don't fix the issue, either in general, or between un- and re-installations.

I tried changing the font - no effect. I tried changing the chat style but only have 1 to choose from. My suspicion is that that wouldn't fix it either.

I did find out that if I quit Skype and restart, then open the previous chat, all the text appears (history is on). But nothing new will appear until I quit Skype and restart again. So I know the inputs are being recorded from both parties.

Any other suggestions are most welcome.

Hmm... maybe somebody like g4pilut or ruwim can help you with this. I am very sorry, but I am out of ideas.

I have exactly the same issue. I re-installed the Operative System (Leopard) and it fixed the issue for some days, but it again does not show text (chat, sms). I do not want to keep re-installing all the OS every time. it takes a lot of time (backing up, etc)....

Help is appreciated.

i having the same problem and i tried everything like reinstall etc... and nothing works .

why do the people of skype nothing on to it ?????
