I asked them via Twitter to which I got no response. Microsoft, be warned if you drop Skype support for Linux it means more negative perception of your company within the Linux community. Please continue support of Skype for Linux. Many people use it - believe it or not.

Re: Please tell the truth.

There is no place/button for me to "Add Contacts" in Linux but there is on my PC with WINDOWS, making SKYPE unusable in Linux. This appears to be by design.

With version 2.2.0.35, at least I have an "add user" button in the bottom left corner:

And this button works me. Skype is extremely buggy on the whole though. It uses to much resources and crashes quite often. Furthermore I don't get it to leave my music players untouched and it sometimes makes pulseaudio freeze...

The Skype devs have to react to these bugs! That's not fun. If you don't want to do the work yourselves, why don't you release the source code or the technical details about the protocol, so that we can use Skype with alternative IMs like pidgin or empathy?

Re: Please tell the truth.

Yeah they'll release the source code right after they release the source code for Windoze. Meanwhile I'll try to convince my friends & relatives (the non-annoying ones) to install a SIP client.

Skype Connect bridges a SIP PBX to the Skype network.

Re: Please tell the truth.

micro$hit should just release a LibSkype
If they did that then it would let the community bridge the gap between LibSkype and SIP maybe? or at least let others create a working GUI for the libs

Re: Please tell the truth.

Pretty please, I will not switch to Windows if Skype for Linux gets obsoleted! And I guess no one will. Make a market research and make up your mind folks there.

You obsolete Skype for Windows, I'll stop using it and start to give my money to someone who gives a s**t.

Re: Please tell the truth.

"Since when Microsoft purchased Skype it looks like that the support to Linux development has stopped. It's a long time that we don't see a developper answering on this forum.

Please, Skype people, tell the truth: Skype will or will not continue to develop Linux version?"

I agree... it has been a long time since we have had any "support" in Linux PERIOD. I also have not seen anyone answer any of our questions in this forum.. EVER!

I have asked, several times, about updating skype, in general, to use window in window chat so, skype would be as updated as some of the other chat clients. To this date, NO ONE has every answered or addressed this inquiry.
VERY poor support and, sad customer service on the part of Skype.
