Friend was over the house, who is a very expierenced skype user, and he could not figure out how to use my imac with latest skype installed. Me, I know nothing else, but it does seem very cumbersome. I can't even get the dialer to punch in "1 for blablabla, 2 for blablablabla" when connecting to phone answering machines...it dunna work!

Does the skype 2.8 use the discrete graphics card of macbook pro or the integrated?Skype 5.3 uses the discrete and without doing something my mac's temperature is 10 degrees up.
RB, I now have 2.8, 5.3 and 5.5 beta and simply rename them to not mess up prefs. Then you can use whichever version suits your in the moment need. Have not tried group video chat in 2.8 however. Cheers,
I see 5.5 still won't let me make a small contacts window. Therefore still completely useless. In the meantime I'm glad that Google+ Hangouts has now released screensharing.

I WANT TO KILL MYSELF. Skype drives me so **bleep**ing crazy. What's worse is they refuse to listen to all of us complaining and make simple UI changes.
All I want is for the contact list to be smaller. It's a [edited for privacy] disgusting 470 pixel wide piece of **bleep**.
Can't someone like R. Scoble interview them and find out what they're doing with this mess and why they don't care about the people that actually use the app everyday?
