2.8 is tidy, works like a charm and runs well on Lion.

5 is a bloated, ugly, disaster...

I hate the new slick interface. Plus the new version no longer offers screen sharing a selection of my screen (and I don't always want to show my entire screen to users I'm connecting to). And lastly, the new version is full of bugs.

I wish I had never upgraded and am looking to downgrade to the latest version of the old interface. I wish the Skype site had a page with a list of old versions available for download.

This has to be the least intuitive and most unhelpful forum system I have ever come across.

Please have a heavy hitting forum provider give the system a look-over !!

Here's my need for help ... I use a Dell Streak 5 with Android 2.2.2 which NEVER lets me down on railway trains, in my car as a SatNav device and walking around in towns, villages and pubs.

Having just, yesterday and this morning, re-established my Skype account on my PC (where all works well) and completely re-installed the latest version on the Dell Streak 5 (where is hardly works in any sense of the word; I am bound to conclude that something is seriously wrong, overall in the SKYPE environment.

The forums on this issue that I have been able to access, have shown that this issue has been a topic for many months - and hardly a single word has been said by Skype.

I know that the Dell Streak 5 is destined to an early death (courtesy Dell) but I can assure you that that will not necessarily stop me from emigrating to a Dell Streak 7 when my contract is finished.

Perhaps by then Skype will have found and fixed the problem I'm wrestling with ... PLEASE!!!

Consider this my scream into the void. Product managers, marketing people, and decision-makers at Skype: please consider acting like you care about the Mac user base. Or at least provide a classic version, or discontinue it altogether so we at least know formally that you really don't care. It's insulting to keep introducing shiny new crap that consistently receives specific and overwhelming negative responses. Throw away your folder of neat marketing ideas and listen to what your customers want. Seems like a reasonable business plan, right?

I use Skype exclusively to group video chat with 6-9 friends each evening. 4 or 5 of us have premium memberships and can set up the group each evening.

We would go to 2.8 in a minute, but we've been told that 2.8 will not do group video chats. Is this true? If so, we're married to these terrible later versions.

Would "Go To Meeting" allow group video chats?

Hate Skype 5. I upgraded on my desktop mac and its NASTY!

Still run 2.8 on my macbook pro as it takes up far less screen space and is much easier to use.

Skype, please make next version more like 2.8.

Already voted this up but I have to say, I use Skype a lot because of my long-distance relationship and we both reverted to 2.8 after trying v5.1 a while back. Recently, 2.8 has become a little buggy with regards to my Bluetooth headset so I didn't have much of a choice but to upgrade to 5.3, and was disappointed to see that it still has the rubbish interface that drove me away the first time.

Most frustratingly, why does the "current call" window have to exist only when Skype is in the background, and why does it not have the picture-in-picture view of myself? The floating window is useful but only when Skype is in the background--make it a permanently floating window like in 2.8!

Hi.

Add my voice to the group of ''unsatisfied'' users of Skype 5.

I updated my Mac version recently and really was schocked by the new interface of Contact List.

Guys, c'mon, what the hell wrong is with the skype designers?

I have a feeling, that someone really talented in design department died in this company and now all the users are being used as guinea pigs...

What was that person, who decided that this new look with tons of informaion and gaps between all that lines is cool?

Maybe skype designers/testers/bosses should TRY to start using their updated versions by themselves, just in case if it may help the to feel like an ordinary user like me and others.

And the second astonishing moment of that reckless update is a fact that we CAN NOT change the new contact list view BACK to what it was in the previous version (and shall i mention that we cannot pick a skype 2.x look as well?) and there is no option and all we can do is - choose between these two new inconvenient, awkward, ugly and unreasonable views.

P.S.

"Thanks" for hiding the skype folder guys. It took me some time to google how to find it's new location. I bet that there was some "major" issue with keeping it where it always been - unhidden in app.support folder of Library.

And by the way, why can't I delete my history in the new Mac update?

The Project of Yours, the whole skype app for macs and iOS is getting WORSER every **bleep** update in terms of usability!

We do not need a facebook integration (provided in beta), we need a stable, properly working application, as skype WAS before the fifth version.

I am cpmpletely didabled from a brain anuryzm popped and blead out , massive steoke , & RSD (incurable nerve disease) , I have 2 barely adult children. who live very far away 1 of wich is in the marinesbwho is overseas.i basically live in a bed i have now spent $150.00 trying to fix a comp & network that wasn't broken because skype sail it was my issue. my only source of income is SSDI & you can take my word it isnt enough to live onhe only thing in the world I want is to see their faces. SKYPE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE MY SON AND HIS WIFE ARE RISKING THEIR LIVES EVERYBDAY........FOR YOU.......DO IT FOR OUR TROOPS...THEY NEED TO SEE A FAMILIAR FACE ONCE IN A WHILE
