No longer recieving Skype notifications via Growl after Skype update

Hi, I am currently using Skype 5.1.0.968 and since the update to 5 I have not been recieving all of my notifications via Growl as I did before the update. I am using Growl 1.2.2. I have checked all of the settings in both Skype and Growl, and as far as I can see there should be no problems. I uninstalled and reinstalled Growl to no effect. I also contacted Growl about this issue who were helpful, but redirected me here as the problem isnt due to Growl.

Please can you help me, this is a major inconvenience!

I have been having the same problem. For me it's when skype is hidden that i dont get the growl notifications, perhaps this is the case for you too? Seems to be a bug in the app.

It doesnt seem to matter where skype is for me, whether its the top window, behind others or hiden in the dock I dont get notifications. I have read other people say they only dont get them when its hidden on other forums, but found no answers. I hope someone can help!

Hi,

Go to Skype preferences >>> 'Notifications' and there, be sure :

- 'Disable all visual notifications' is unticked;

- Growl is selected as visual notifications generator.

Just went to the settings to double check, and already have the " Dissable all Notifications" unticked and growl is selected bellow.

For every application that is supported by your installation of Growl, there is a ticket file in the directory ~/Library/Application Support/Growl/Tickets/ If you install in a "less optimal" order, the application you install does not know where to put this ticket file. I picked the ticket file for skype from a backup ("always have a backup" ).

Make sure Growl is running (started). You can manually start it in the Growl preferences window in System Preferences.

As simple as this may sound, it could have been overlooked.

@DMS, Sounds good, but I dont have a back up of the ticket. Do you know if i can get hold of another frome somewhere, or are they computer specific?

@bg_curl Growl is running, all other applications still notify via Growl.

Hi all,

that's what's happening to me:

yesterday I updated skype to 5.7. Since then, growl stopped worked properly. Today I've found out this: growl still works, but it shows notification only from chat windows (i don't know how to call them properly, and i'm also italian...) that are not open.

Maybe an exaple can explain:

if i'm chatting with two contacts (separately), i will not have both windows open at the same time, i should switch from one to other. In this case i will get notifications from the contact who's window is not open at that moment.

This didn't happened before, so I think it's a skype problem. Any chance to fix?
