New skype doesn´t work on mac os X 10.5.8

Skype is self-destructing.  I am bombarded with ads for services

I don't want.  I can't get to my contacts or use the new version on my Mac.

Why don't they at last require a subscription fee, which is their ultimate intent.

I am having much better results on Google, where you can see and talk to your

contacts without needing to read through twenty or so ads.  Skype, you are

losing your edge.

Have a Mac OS X version 10.7.4

Trying to dowload the new Skype version but it does not work.

It promts me to:

"A new version 2.8.0.722 of Skype is available and to be able to continue to use Skype you must download and install it."

I payed for Skype premium for 12 months including Group Video Calling but

I am unable to accsess skype. It does not let me use it.

Some suggestions?????

I concur that version 6.3.0.582  does not work on Mac OS 10.6.8

Had to go back to 6.0.0.2968 luckily I had saved the dmg file.

I have been battling with Skype for 2 weeks now on this. I am unable to download a useable copy of the program. Mine just 'quits unexpectedly' and doesn't give me any options.

At this point I am going to do some really negative posting for Skype on Macs. Skype's support is useless - they just tell me to redownload the option and many of their silly emails tell me to take out the old one and reinstall the new one.

My attitude to Skype is it stinks and they certainly will not be getting any referrals from me.

I'd really like my money back because I paid for a year and have at least 9 months left - however, their response is that I have used the service and they will not return the money.
