Re: New Facebook Integration with Skype 5.4 for Mac OS X Beta

My Skype installation integrated with Facebook without me doing anything, but that might be because I have my Skype configrued with Facebook on my Windows machine already?

But the Facebook part seems poorly implemented. Why is there no option to deactivate the Facebook part on-the-fly? I don't always want to be available on Facebook chat at the same time as I' am available on Skype.

On the Windows client it's rather easy to disable the Facebook part when I want to, but on the Mac OS X client I can't seem to figure it out at all.

No, I did nothing. All I did was open it to try again. It just all of a sudden was there. I use Snow Leopard and not Lion on my iMac. But on my MBP which has Lion on it, I never had a problem. The facebook thing was always there.

I agree with you in all things you have discribed. Skype is since Version 5.x a big shame for the Mac applications.

Re: New Facebook Integration with Skype 5.4 for Mac OS X Beta

Hi

Looks like there is a lot of people having the same problem as I do.

I am on Lion OSX on both my iMac and Macbook Air.

Skype beta 5.4 works "fine" on my Macbook Air (although I really would like to be able to disable the facebook integration).

However, it does not work properly on my iMac. When I click on "Skype Home" in the left menu, then nothing appears on the right part of the window (on my macbook that's where I then get the option to log into Facebook). The right hand window on my iMac simply remains empty. Both Macs are on the exact same OSX and fully updated.

Are you guys working on this?

Please also make the facebook optional in the main settings menu.

Re: New Facebook Integration with Skype 5.4 for Mac OS X Beta

I finally figured it out!  Go to the Skype Home button on the upper left. then you will see a gear on the far right. Click on it and you will see the 'Connect to Facebook function.

Re: New Facebook Integration with Skype 5.4 for Mac OS X Beta

Even though there is no instructions on the Skype Page, the help section, etc. I finally figure it out!!!   Click the Skype Home button on upper left of the skype application below your account name. On the far right of the window you will now see a grey gear icon. Click there and 'Connect to Facebook' is listed!

Don't know why this information isn't posted anywhere obvious...  Serious oversight.

What the problem is the instructions say (click on the 'connect to facebook' tab which does not exist!

Go to Skype Home, upper left corner.  Click on the gear to the right, and there the connect to facebook option is listed.
