Mac install problem - "you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items".

Trying to upgrade from 5.1.0.935 to 5.7.0.1037 on a Mac running OSX 10.5.8.  All I get is error: The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items".  Tried many times and yes I checked permissions by right (control) clicking the new version

i went back to older skype and working fine, now it wont let me run the old software, insists i upgrade, then says i do not have sufficient priviledges, i repaired permissions on my MAC now i am skype-less . ?!?!?!?!??!

I am having the identical problem which also leaves me without Skype. Hope we get some help soon.

Just got this advice from Monito for this problem. It worked fine.

"don't update it, just remove the old one, download the new one, and then install it... should do"

I won't lose all my contacts when I remove the the old one...correct?

That's right. Your contacts are stored in your account.

But as with anything like this, it's always a good idea to make sure your backup is fully up to date before starting.
