Lion upgrade breaks sound quality

Logitech headset here as well with Lion and exact same problem. Skype is a sorry excuse for a company. Can't understand how this company can be even a million dollar worth. It is outrageous that they don't even reply in their own support network.

Skype - be ashamed of yourself. You are rubbish! Will cancel my subscription soon if they do not get this thing working.

Same here. I have lion on a MBA and it is a disaster. I need to use my iphone to use skype now and it is very frustrating. At least recognizing the problem and saying that there are tyring to fix it would go a long way. ....

I've been dealing with this problem since upgrading to Lion.  I have the Logitech Clearchat wireless PC headset.  Several of my coworkers have the exact same problem.  They have either the same headset as me or they're using a wireless Plantronics headset that also uses a USB dongle.  I've isolated my problem to conference calls that I host.  I can participate in conference calls hosted by another user and I can make one on one calls without a problem.  When I host a call and attempt to add a 3rd person to the call, the audio immediately gets distorted, sounding like a stuttering robot.

I've gotten no where with Logitech.  My coworkers had the same result with Plantronics.

The only work around (that I've found) is to use a wired headset or a separate microphone.  I'm using a separate microphone plugged into USB along with the headset.  I can still walk away from the computer in a conference call until I need to speak.  I was hoping it was a temporary work around, but this has been almost 6 months.  <sigh>

Unfortunately, NOT using Skype isn't an easy option for me.

Hmmmm - no answer to that one then, and ew don't know how long we are supposed to wait.

I was probably to quick to think there might be good customer service from Skype...

have had the same issue for almost 4 months now.....and it is getting REALLY annoying. Several "dead-end" support contacts always ending the same way...."check your settings or repeat the error and send us the log file"....problem is that my headset simply does not work AT ALL with skype anymore, works perfecty with ALL other applications (also VOIP).

Using macbook pro with skype 5.4 beta now (still has the same problem) and my USB headset is a JABRA PRO 9470.

Wondering if this will EVER be solved

After upgrading Lion I have the same problem with a Logitech USB headset.

I tried to downgrade skype but problems are still the same.

I tried to use a different software (iChat) and surprise same audio problems!

So I think it depend from Lion.

Using Skype with a normal headset 3,5 (no USB) audio is better and not intermittent.

So - just excitedly downloaded update (Skype_5.3.60.1093), thinking this is bound to fix it....
