I'm not able to see the incoming call pop up window

[ Edited ]

Skype works great in ubuntu but I've lost the ability to receive incoming calls because I'm not able to see the popup of the incoming call. I can hear the ringing tone but since there is no "Answer" button in the main interface I'm not able to answer the call. Perhaps my X server is sending this pop up somewhere out of my reach but I can not know how to recover from this situation because this pop up does not appear in the tasks bar.

Any ideas or workarounds?

Thanks

Re: I'm not able to see the incoming call pop up window

I have the same problem using Arch Linux and Xfce and dual monitors. The window is appearing off screen because my right monitor is lower resolution than the monitor on the left and the Skype answer window is displayed on the bottom right of the screen which in my case is off screen. How can this be fixed?

Same issue here, not sure if there is a window off screen though, can't see anything can just hear the incoming call sound.

A work around is to goto:

Options -> Notifications and uncheck "display pop-up notification" against the "Incoming call ringing" notification

This then gets you a "Normal" call window opening with an answer button rather than the bottom right "pop up" which on my setup I could not see!  If that window is off screen (wasn't for me) then you maybe able use something like Devilspie/gDevilspie to match and reposition it when it is opened.

Re: I'm not able to see the incoming call pop up window

Thank you!

I changed my dual monitor config to Mirror, then went back to side-by-side, then increased the resolution to the nominal resolution and all the problems were resolved.

Thanks for the tip that this has to do with dual monitors and resolutions.

One more issue I had was that I could not set the options. I pressed the little down-arrow for the main menu but nothing would happen. Now this issue is resolved as well.

Hi! I've got the exact same problem on Arch, when using 2 monitors. None of the solutions work for me though. Any more ideas?

Re: I'm not able to see the incoming call pop up window

Same here: using Arch with two monitors where the right one has lower resolution. And in Skype v4 "display pop-up notification" is faded out for me, so I cannot disable it.

Re: I'm not able to see the incoming call pop up window

I'm experiencing this issue in Ubuntu 12.10 with dual-monitors, the right one being a smaller resolution than the main monitor... I also have the 'desktop notification' option grayed out, so I can't try the workaround mentioned above.

Very frustrating issue; it's basically impossible for me to answer a call using Skype right now. Any word on a fix coming up?

Same issue as the last two posts. Is Skype support not supposed to give advice?

Re: I'm not able to see the incoming call pop up window

Same issue on Xubuntu 12.10. It is very old problem. I saw it since 2.x.

PS: there are notifications but Skype does not draw them correctly - the background (wallpaper ot another window) fills up the notification rectangle. If you remember the area of the screen where the Answer button should be then click there on incoming call ringing - you will get the call answered.

Re: I'm not able to see the incoming call pop up window

The problem for me is that I my right monitor is slightly higher and I have arranged them accordingly in Ubuntu's display settings. The notification is shown but is drawn below the visible screen area. Probably on the same level as my left monitor.

If I move the monitor a little down in the settings, I can see half the notification.
