I have the same problem. So I waited. Now I am back on but there is something wrong with the options on skype. I am quite confused and devastated seeing as I am expecting an important call from someone. I tried similar processes to help fix my skype as well. So far nothing is working. :'(

I have the same problem since I upgraded to 5.5.0... I tried everything too. deleated skype and reinstalling... etc, etc
I was woundering if we deleated the following folders:
home/library/skype
home/caches//com.skype.skype
home/preferences/com.skype.skype.plist
These are the only folders I found... so far...
It might delete all my contacts, but I can always put in the contacts back in. At this point I don't care.
It might be a complete new install?
Any one have any other ideas?

I got it working
I tried everything too... etc, etc
Okay… here's what I did:
1. Put the program Skype in trash.
2. Went to menu and clicked on Go/home
Then I put the following folders in the trash:
3. home/library/....... skype
4. home/caches/....... /com.skype.skype
5. home/preferences/......... com.skype.skype.plist
6. Then empty trash
7. Restarted my Mac
8. Installed Skype… and I was good to go! ![]()
Only 2 of my contacts were left, but I can always put in the contacts back in. It was worth it.
Hope this helps… good luck ![]()

I am also experiencing the same problem. I have not been able to resolve it in anyway.

With my Mac (Lion OS) I can't login with one of my Skype names. The other one does login. How do I correct this? I have tried reinstalling Skype and am using the latest version 5.5.0.2430.
