Hi ppl,
i'm using recent Skype version under Linux.
When i'm trying to sign in to Skype it keeps telling me: Sign in failed.
When i login with the same Login credentials into the Website it works.
I changed my password severals times, always same behavior:
Web login works - Skype login dont.
So you have any solution for this?
Tanks in advance.
Best regards
hkasigos

hey sheena_dewitt,
du you also have a dot or maybe underscore in you skype name?
I had a dot in there (hka.sigos) and maybe thats why it did not work.
Now i re-registered without dot (hkasigos) and my login works!
Maybe that is a solution, would give it a try.
Best Regards

Hi there,
have you tried 'rm -r ~/.Skype' already?
I am having same problem on Kubuntu Precise amd64 with Skype from Canonical partner.
Logging in with correct credentials yields "Sign in failed". Problem got clearer:
It's somehow related to my HOME being mounted from an NFS server. If I create the local directory '/local/kallisto/.Skype' and softlink it by
ln -s /local/kallisto/.Skype ~/.Skype
Skype will sign in like there's no problem. Anyone able to explain that weird behavior?

Hi,
for me it works since I'm using a username without a dot.
But you are right, it could be a NFS problem, because my Home directory is also mounted via NFS.
If the problem occours again, i'll try to relocate my ~/.skype somewhere to /opt on local computer and symlink it.
Thanks

It actually is. Google "Skype NFS file locking"
