Annoying birthday reminders (Mac-specific!)

Apparently there is no way to swithc off annoying birthday reminders for people in my contact list. I have many people in it and I am constantly get annoyed by these reminders. Apparently in Windows version there is a way to switch them off, but not on Mac.

I encourage everybody who is like me annyoed by these reminders upvote or comment on this topic to let Skype developers know our opinion.

The birthday reminders come from your address book. Go to Skype (in the menu bar), Preferences\General and unselect "Show Address Book contacts"

I've seen this 'answer' a couple of times on here. The birthday reminders do not come from the mac address book, these are Skype contacts with their birthday in their profile.

Requests to remove this 'feature' have been bouncing around on here and previously on GetSatisfaction for over 3 years now and still hasn't had anything done about it on the Mac, however it has been fixed on the PC (apparently).

The birthday reminders do not come from the mac address book, these are Skype contacts with their birthday in their profile.

Strange. I have friends on Skype with birthday dates in their profiles but I'm I've never got notifications on Skype.
